BOOK DESCRIPTION

Crisscrossing a span of one man's career of over 35 years, Tales of a Traveling Salesman touches on just a few of these humorous and nostalgic stories.

A salesman has to know more than just how to get the sale; he has to know more than just his product line and he has to know more than just his competition's product lines. All of these are indeed important, but a good salesman has to know how to relate to people, how to connect with them on a personal level, and how to go that extra step for their customers. Tales of a Traveling Salesman illustrates examples taken from over 35 years in the sales field of how to not only get the sale, but how to obtain and maintain lasting relationships with customers.

Faxvog takes the reader into the past to understand the origins of some humorous tall tales regarding salesmen; and offers a peek into the humble beginnings of traveling salesmen in the United States. As technology evolves, so must this 'second-oldest profession'. Faxvog takes the reader through the evolution of the salesman from the 20th to the 21st century, taking a look at what technology has changed and what has remained the same.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR

Tom Faxvog's entire career was in technical sales that spanned 39 years of being a traveling salesman. During this time he completed additional technical courses at Chicago University and Clemson University. During his sales career he rejoined the Navy Reserves and completed missions to U.S. Naval Station in the Philippines during the beginning phase of Iraqi Freedom. After this obligation was completed, he became more active with his local VFW, serving as commander, and with other service groups. At the present time the author enjoys big lake fishing and spending time at his Northern Minnesota Cabin with his family and friends.
